Freelance Invoice Tracker

A read-only Product Blueprint created with IdeaMade.

Freelance invoice and payment tracker

Freelance Invoice Tracker

A single-user web app for one freelancer to replace a spreadsheet: record issued invoices by client and invoice number, log payments received, and see paid, partly paid, overdue and total still owed. It does not create or send invoices, export PDFs, take online payments, send reminders, or use AI.

Users and roles

The people who interact with the product.

Freelancer

The only user of the app. Records and manages their own clients, invoices and payments, and has full access to their own data.

  • Record issued invoices by client and invoice number
  • Log payments received against invoices
  • See at a glance what is paid, partly paid and overdue

Product decisions

Choices you can confirm directly in the Blueprint.

When an invoice that already has payments recorded is voided, what should happen to those payments?ConfirmedWhen an invoice that already has payments recorded is voided, what should happen to those payments?
Keep payments on the voided invoice

Assumptions

Items that should be verified before implementation.

When an invoice that already has payments is voided, its payments stay attached for history but are excluded from balances and the total still owed.

High impactAccepted

All amounts are in a single currency; no currency selection or conversion is included.

Medium impactAccepted

Overdue status and days late are calculated each time the invoice list is opened, not by a scheduled job, so they reflect the current date.
